Scout Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Scout is a planning app made by Backbone Studios. This page explains what Scout does with your information, including information from your Google account.
Who runs Scout
Scout is built and run by Backbone Studios. Questions about this policy or your information: jessica@backbonestudios.co.
What Scout can access in your Google account
When you connect a Google Calendar, Scout asks Google for two permissions:
- See the list of calendars in your account (read only).
- View, add and edit events on your calendars.
How Scout uses that access
- Scout reads the events on the calendars you choose in Scout's Settings, so your day plan is built around your meetings and appointments. If you haven't chosen any calendars for an account, Scout reads that account's main calendar.
- Scout gets the list of calendars in your account from Google and shows it in Settings so you can choose which ones it reads. Scout does not keep a copy of that list; it saves only the calendars you choose (see below). Scout also uses the list to find the email address of each account you connect, because Google uses each account's email address as the id of its main calendar.
- Scout adds or changes an event only when you ask it to, then reads the event back from your calendar to confirm it was saved.
- Scout does not put work blocks or plans on your Google Calendar, and it does not change or delete events you did not ask it to change.
What Scout stores
- The email address of each Google account you connect.
- The calendars you choose in Settings: each one's name, the id Google gives it, and whether it is the account's main calendar.
- The access keys Google gives Scout so it can reach your calendar, including a long-lasting one so Scout can check your calendar when you are not signed in. They are stored encrypted.
- The title and time of calendar events that are part of a day plan you accept in Scout.
- When Scout adds or changes an event for you, a record of that change: the event's title, time, place and notes as sent to your calendar, and when it happened.
Scout reads other calendar details from Google when it needs them and does not keep a copy of your whole calendar.
Who handles your information
- Supabase stores the Scout information listed above, in the United States.
- Netlify runs Scout's website and the server code that talks to Google, so your calendar information passes through Netlify's servers while Scout is using it. Scout does not keep it there.
- Scout does not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone else.
- People at Backbone Studios do not look at your Google data, except when you ask for help and agree to it, when it is needed for security, or when the law requires it.
- Scout does not currently send your Google Calendar data to AI services, and it does not use it to train AI models.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Scout's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
- You can stop Scout's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. After that, Scout can no longer see or change your calendar.
- Stopping access does not delete what Scout has already stored. To have it deleted, email jessica@backbonestudios.co. We will delete the stored items listed above, including the access keys. Copies in routine database backups are removed when those backups expire.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. If Scout starts using your Google data in a new way, we will tell you and ask for your OK before it starts.
